Double Play: Athletes’ Use Of Sport Video Games To Enhance Athletic Performance

Narrowing down what I would like to research on sport video games, I fell across a thesis with the above- mentioned title by a girl named Lauren Silberman who summited it as part of her MS requirement at MIT.

The thesis brings up many interesting points on the subject and I will pursue this with other articles for my research.

As I mentioned before in another post, athlete’s are playing video games to perfect their performance and are also playing games that represent them digitally.

Last year, Martin Rogers from YAHOO Sports brought up the question: “The New Orleans Saints quarterback told Yahoo! Sports in an interview this week that modern football simulation games such as Madden NFL have become so realistic that playing them during downtime can actually have a positive impact on the athlete’s on-field performance.”

It looks like it is becoming more and more common.
